When Our Hands Are Tied

Posted on September 4, 2008

My follow-up to your responses to my recent newsletter "Breast Implants for Your Wife" will be 9/11/08.
Coming up soon in a future newsletter: "HerBiting Tongue - How to Respond"

What do you do when something's totally out of our control - an incurable disease; a lifelong consequence of an accident; a precious loved one who's in harm's way? (Read my 9/4/08 blog Turbulence for Little Scotty).

The Bible's solution is to turn our worries into prayers.

"Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers. Let God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness - everything coming together for good - will come and settle down on you. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces the worry at the center of your life." Philippians 4:6-7 .

This is an immense truth right out of The Book.We can stake our all on Him.

But as someone once said,"I'm still learning that much more is accomplished through perseverance in prayer, rather than by taking charge of things myself."

Even when our hearts are breaking, we have the hope God is hearing our pleas. He is working and intervening in our crisis.

Six year old Scotty is heavy on my heart today. I write with watered cheeks. Your eyes also may be moistened right now thinking about a little helpless loved one in your family. read more
